For Simi Valley residents who prefer Hollywood Burbank Airport over the bustle of LAX, the next trip out of town will look a little different. The airport opened its new $1.3 billion passenger terminal on October 13, 2026, replacing the aging facility that had served travelers for decades.

The project, known as Elevate BUR, brings a 355,000-square-foot terminal with higher ceilings, more seating, expanded screening facilities and updated dining and shopping areas. The airport still has 14 gates, so the larger building does not mean a larger gate count.

A new entrance — and a new route to the airport

The most important practical change for drivers is the location. The airport's new passenger terminal address for drop-off, pickup and navigation is 2827 N. Hollywood Way, Burbank, CA 91505, with its main entrance at Hollywood Way and Winona Avenue. The passenger terminal is now on the opposite side of the airfield, with its entrance at Hollywood Way and Winona Avenue.

If you are using a navigation app, check that it directs you to the new terminal rather than the former entrance.

The airport warns that traffic delays may affect passenger drop-offs, pick-ups and parking while related work continues. Leave additional time, especially if you have not used the new approach before.

Parking has changed, too

Parking Lot C closed in August, and Lot E permanently closed on October 13. Parking at the new terminal includes a terminal garage, with self-parking and valet options, while other airport lots remain available. The airport's parking website has the latest arrangements, rates and maps; pre-booking is currently unavailable during an operator transition.

The airport also provides special guidance for anyone who parked at the old terminal before October 13 and returned after the move. Check the official parking page if that applies to you.

What's improved inside?

Travelers will find roomier check-in and baggage-claim areas, expanded security screening, more charging outlets and new passenger amenities. The architecture nods to Hollywood history through contemporary artwork and design details. Some opening-week services may still be settling in, so food and retail choices can change as operators finish their transitions.

The familiar outdoor aircraft boarding experience remains part of Burbank's character. Despite the new building, the airport retains the same 14 gates.

Why the old terminal needed replacing

The previous building dated in part to 1930 and sat too close to the runways under modern federal aviation safety standards. The replacement terminal was built farther from the runways, with updated safety and accessibility features. This was more than a cosmetic remodel.

Before your next flight

If you're flying out of Burbank, picking up a family member or planning holiday travel, double-check the terminal address and the latest parking information before leaving Simi Valley. The airport's official site has arrival and departure updates, parking maps and advisories.
