Residents of Simi Valley are abuzz with anticipation as the la28 volunteer application opens pathways for locals to join the massive volunteer force needed for the 2028 Olympics.
Being a part of the Olympic Volunteer Roles represents a unique opportunity for Ventura County community members eager to participate—even if the competitions won’t take place in their own backyard.
With Simi Valley not hosting any official Olympic events, many applicants will need to commute into the heart of Los Angeles, where the Games will transform the city for two thrilling weeks.
For those interested, the 2028 olympics volunteers program features positions across a variety of fields—ranging from communications and technology to guest services and operations.
Applicants with medical training or who are fluent in multiple languages may find specialized volunteer roles that match their skills.
This year, organizers have ramped up outreach within communities like Simi Valley, setting up information booths at recent city events, and partnering with local organizations to ensure everyone understands how to join the Olympic Volunteer Crew.
Several Simi Valley residents who participated in recent community events say the chance to serve at an Olympics so close to home feels particularly meaningful.
They point to local beautification projects and pop-up fairs that have helped bring neighbors together and stoke excitement about the LA28 Games.
According to officials, the application process will not be first-come, first-served, giving hopefuls plenty of time to polish their submissions.
Those accepted will get the rare privilege of being inside the action—whether welcoming international spectators, providing logistical support, or taking part in landmark ceremonies.
The Olympic volunteer roles on offer echo the spirit of unity and pride that has long defined Simi Valley’s support for global events.
For residents looking to contribute and share in this historic moment, now is the time to explore the la28 volunteer application and discover where skills and passions might fit into this once-in-a-generation celebration. |

Volunteered at the 1984 Olympics here in LA when I was 19. Best experience of my life honestly. Anyone on the fence about applying should just do it.
Anyone know if they have evening or weekend only positions? Some of us can't just take two weeks off work to volunteer full time.
I speak Spanish and some Mandarin so hopefully the language thing works in my favor. Would love a role working directly with international visitors.
Deborah RuizThat combo sounds really valuable honestly. Mandarin especially, I'd imagine they'll be looking hard for fluent speakers. Good luck, hope you get a great placement!
Not sure why they're setting up booths in Simi when none of the events are even here. Seems like a lot of effort to recruit people who still have to drive an hour each way.
mike_1977I get what you're saying but a lot of people here commute to LA every day anyway. For two weeks at the Olympics I think most folks would be happy to make that drive.
My kids are so excited about this. We watched the Paris Olympics together and they kept saying they wanted to be part of the next one. Now we actually can be.
Carla T.That's honestly the best way to get kids excited about something like this. If your family volunteers together that would be such a cool memory for them. How old are your kids?
Good that it's not first come first served. I kept procrastinating on stuff like this because I thought I missed the window.
I wonder what the medical volunteer roles look like. I'm a nurse and would love to actually put my skills to use instead of just handing out water bottles.
jessie_svSame question here! I'm also a nurse and honestly I'd feel a little silly just scanning tickets. Hoping they have actual medical station roles or athlete support positions. Worth asking at one of those info booths maybe.
The commute from Simi into LA is no joke. Anyone planning to volunteer better figure out the 118 situation early or carpool with someone.
I already submitted my application! I put down guest services as my first choice. Really hoping they place me somewhere near the opening ceremonies.
Sandra M.Nice! I submitted mine last week too. Guest services sounds like a great spot for meeting people from all over the world. Did you list any backup role choices just in case?
