Los Angeles Avenue Set for Nearly $2 Million Rehabilitation |
Work between First Street and Erringer Road will include paving, sidewalk and curb repairs, with most construction planned overnight. |
A heavily traveled stretch of Los Angeles Avenue is scheduled for a major rehabilitation project after the Simi Valley City Council approved a nearly $2 million construction contract.
The work will cover roughly one mile of Los Angeles Avenue between First Street and Erringer Road and will include asphalt repairs and resurfacing, along with improvements to deteriorated concrete, sidewalks, curbs, driveway approaches, a bus turnout and curb ramps.
Construction is expected to take about 40 days, with completion anticipated in late October. Most of the work is planned between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. to reduce impacts on daytime traffic and nearby businesses.
The project will also bring a change at Los Angeles Avenue and Hubbard Street, where the westernmost crosswalk will be removed because an ADA-compliant ramp cannot be constructed on the north side of the intersection. The eastern crosswalk, located less than 75 feet away, will remain.
City officials are also reviewing bicycle facilities along the corridor after concerns were raised about cyclist safety on portions of Los Angeles Avenue.
The project is part of Simi Valley’s 2026-27 Major Streets Rehabilitation Program.

Just hope the businesses along that strip don’t get hurt while this is happening!
Good to hear about fixing sidewalks, some of those are so broken up near the bus stop.
Wish they’d put in a real bike lane instead of just “reviewing”. It’s so sketchy riding there now.
Happy they're doing the work at night. Daytime traffic there is already a nightmare.
$2 million for ONE mile? That’s wild. Hope it actually gets done on time.
Glad they're fixing the pavement, I drive that way to work and it gets super rough near First St.
Why are they taking away the crosswalk? Seems like it would make things harder for people on foot.
