Trivia Question❓

What type of geological fault system runs beneath Simi Valley and was responsible for shaping the valley's characteristic east-west oriented topography?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

The Simi Valley Railroad Museum has launched a captivating new exhibit, drawing attention from local history buffs and rail fans.

At its heart are eight authentic steel rails from the era of America’s great rail expansion, each etched with markings from 19th-century manufacturers.

These preserved artifacts connect visitors to the story of the transcontinental railroad, a feat that transformed California and the American West.

The collection, assembled and donated by longtime Simi Valley resident Richard Parshall, offers a tangible link to the city’s industrial roots and rich heritage.

Museum volunteers stress the exhibit’s importance, noting how it sheds light on sweeping changes in commerce and migration.

Admission is free on weekends, inviting families and newcomers to explore Simi Valley’s unique rail legacy this summer.

Joke Of The Day

Simi Valley is so optimistic about growth, they installed a revolving door on the city limits sign.

It spins so fast from people coming in for the housing prices and leaving when they see the commute that it now generates half the city's electricity.

Simi Valley residents are buzzing with excitement as the LA28 Olympic volunteer application opens, inviting locals to join the vast team supporting the 2028 Games.

Though no Olympic events will be held in Simi Valley, Ventura County community members are lining up for unique volunteer roles in Los Angeles, from guest services and communications to technology and operations.

Applicants skilled in medicine or fluent in multiple languages could be matched with specialized assignments as organizers broaden outreach by hosting info booths and partnering with local groups.

Many locals, inspired by recent city beautification projects and fairs, feel a strong sense of pride in representing their home on the world stage.

The application process isn’t first-come, first-served, encouraging careful submissions from all hopeful volunteers.

This rare chance to help bring the Olympics to life is energizing Simi Valley, uniting neighbors ahead of this global celebration.

August has arrived, and Simi Valley families are entering that familiar in-between season: part summer fun, part back-to-school scramble.

There may still be time for one more beach day, pool party or spontaneous afternoon adventure, but backpacks, lunch boxes and school-supply lists are quickly taking center stage. Soon, late summer mornings will be replaced by alarm clocks, packed lunches and the search for missing shoes five minutes before heading out the door.

Simi Valley Unified School District students return to class on Wednesday, August 12. Grace Preschool begins August 17, followed by Grace Elementary and Grace Junior/Senior High School on August 19. Families attending other private schools should contact their campuses directly for confirmed start dates, orientations and supply information.

The good news is that back-to-school preparation does not have to take over the rest of summer. Pick one or two small tasks each day—check the calendar, label supplies, plan a few easy breakfasts or start moving bedtime a little earlier.

There is still room for one last summer memory. Just keep one eye on the sunscreen and the other on that growing school-supply pile.

“Masked Wrestlers Step Into the Ring for Mental Health Awareness.”

You may ask... what is Lucha Libre?   I know I did.

Lucha Libre literally means “free wrestling” in Spanish. It is Mexico’s distinctive form of professional wrestling, combining athletic competition with theatrical storytelling.

The wrestlers—called luchadores—often wear elaborate masks, portray heroes or villains, and use fast, acrobatic moves such as dives, flips, and aerial attacks.

The Simi Valley event is the Bane Ortiz Charity Event for Mental Health Awareness, presented by the Kid Gloves Boxing Foundation. It is intended to raise mental-health awareness and support children and families affected by abduction and kidnapping.

Organizers describe it as a family-friendly evening with live masked wrestling, colorful characters, and community entertainment.

Secret Little Hack

The Frozen Pillowcase Trick (Simi Valley Insiders Know This One)

When August heat in the Valley makes sleeping feel impossible, skip the fan and try this instead: stuff a few pillowcases into a zip-lock bag and tuck them in the freezer for 20 minutes before bedtime. Slip them onto your pillows right as everyone is winding down — the cooling effectS lasts long enough for little ones, grandkids, and even you to drift off before the chill fades. It works faster than any fan and uses almost no electricity.

AI Prompt of the Week

Sponsored by Claw Success Network

Teach AI What You Like

Did you know AI gives better recommendations when it knows a little about you?

Instead of starting every conversation from scratch, spend a few minutes telling AI about your interests.

The result?

More personalized suggestions for books, TV shows, restaurants, travel, recipes, hobbies, fitness, and much more.

✨ Copy & Paste This Prompt Into ChatGPT:

"I'd like you to become my personal recommendation assistant for this conversation.

Before making any recommendations, ask me 20 questions to learn about my preferences, including:

  • ❤️Favorite books and authors
  • ❤️TV shows and movies
  • ❤️Music
  • ❤️Restaurants and foods
  • ❤️Travel destinations
  • ❤️Hobbies and interests
  • ❤️Exercise and wellness
  • ❤️Home and gardening
  • ❤️Shopping habits
  • ❤️Learning goals
  • ❤️Pets
  • ❤️Budget preferences
  •
  • Anything else that will help you make personalized recommendations.
  •

Ask the questions one at a time so we can have a conversation.

Or…copy the prompt and questions to a word document. Take your time to answer them. Copy and paste the prompt with your answers into your favorite AI.

Once you've learned my preferences, use them to personalize every recommendation you make during this chat. If you're unsure about something, ask me before making assumptions.”

💡 Why You'll Love This Prompt

✅ More personalized recommendations

✅ Less time repeating yourself

✅ Better ideas for books, movies, recipes, travel, and hobbies

✅ AI begins to feel like a personal assistant instead of a search engine

✅ Great for beginners who want to get more from AI

🌟 The Simi Signal Bonus Prompt

After AI learns your preferences, try asking:

"Based on everything you've learned about me, recommend five things I probably haven't tried yet—but think I'd genuinely enjoy. Include one book, one TV series, one weekend getaway, one restaurant, and one new hobby."

You might discover your next favorite adventure!

💬 The Simi Signal Challenge

Spend just 10 minutes teaching AI about yourself this week. Then ask for recommendations in areas you care about most.

You may be surprised by how much more thoughtful and personalized the answers become.

💙 Why This Matters

AI isn't just about getting answers—it's about getting better answers.

The more context you provide, the more helpful, relevant, and personalized the conversation becomes. Think of it like introducing yourself to a new friend: the more they know about you, the better their advice gets.
